Welcome to Manuel A. Salinas Creative Arts Elementary School. We house grades transitional-kindergarten through fifth.
Salinas Elementary believes that every child has gifts and talents which
must be discovered and nurtured. In addition to the Common Core State
Standards, California Framework, and District curriculum, students
receive instruction in art, drama, music appreciation, instrumental
music, and chorus. Students attending Salinas are eligible to
participate in art classes (taught by a dedicated art teacher) and
instrumental and singing classes (taught by a dedicated music teacher).
Advanced art classes are available for those students specifically
attending the school under the art magnet program.
Instrumental music and choral classes are available for upper-grade
students. Primary grades participate in weekly sing-alongs. Salinas
offers a comprehensive educational program that emphasizes academic and
artistic excellence. The teachers at Salinas Elementary incorporate arts
education in lessons as well as specific strategies to provide a highly
engaging and rigorous educational setting. The school emphasizes a
strong partnership with parents, offering community classes (ESL,
computer, etc.), a parent library, and volunteer opportunities. To
further expose students to the various art disciplines, artists and
specialists in music, dance, and drama provide enrichment opportunities
for students through the after-school program.
